20 Dec Ambler’s wonderful Winter Fair raises over £3000
Ambler’s wonderful Winter Fair raised more than £3000 for charity, thanks to the generosity of families from our community who enjoyed the afternoon of festive fun.

The event, held on Monday 4th December, had a gingerbread theme, which was taken to dizzying heights in the impressive creations submitted for the Bake-Off competition. There were Star Wars characters, a Big Ben, frosted houses, rocket ships, and even a model of the school itself – all made from gingerbread!
Food writer Thane Prince found the judging exceptionally hard, but Jade retained her Bake-Off crown in the grown-up category with a superb reindeer carousel. The child category was won by Sonny in Year 1, who had made a gingerbread snowman. The biggest gingerbread creations were then auctioned off for an additional £60!
How do you judge a winner out of these amazing ginger bread creations @AmblerSchool winter fair ?! @FoAmbler @theTOYprojectuk #creativity pic.twitter.com/l9WIULFPok

Parent volunteers beautifully decorated the playground and lower hall, transforming the school grounds into a Winter Wonderland. These efforts were crowned by an amazing festive balloon arch created by The London Balloon Boutique, a super backdrop for the photo booth!

The Gingerbread Grotto saw families flock to meet Santa Claus and his Elves, after the man himself had rung the bell to open the fair. Staff members from each class oversaw a stall, allowing visitors to Catch an Elf, decorate ornaments, wrap secret presents, buy reindeer food, and throw snowballs at a Snowman Shy. There was also a Lucky Dip, popcorn, mulled wine for the parents, plus mystery Jam Jars full of goodies on sale and face painting for children.
Thank you to the @FoAmbler for inviting us to the @AmblerSchool Christmas Fair! Great to see everyone and to sell our fabulous Daisy boxes.

The raffle caused enormous excitement, with just under £1000 of tickets sold. Prizes included trips to the theatre, an Arsenal hub gift pack, and a generous toy donation from Sylvanian Families. The highly coveted top prize of a Nintendo Switch console, kindly donated by local Finsbury Park estate agent sponsors Fine & Country, was eventually won by Fergus in Year 2.

This year’s event was an incredible team effort, organised by Friends of Ambler, a registered charity and parent group that supports Ambler. All the funds raised will go towards IT upgrades, art/music provision and Special Educational Needs support. Please check out some of our favourite photos from the Winter Fair in the gallery below:
